B.1 Updating the Cerebellum Firmware

If your firmware is out of date, it is highly recommended that you update to the newest version. New features will become available, as well as bug fixes. The current firmware version is 1.03d, you can check which version you have by using Teacher, or by typing "fhqwhgads" into any standard serial terminal.

Updating your Firmware (via the Firmware Update Utility)
Download the firmware update from the downloads section, and run the cereb-update.bat file. Follow the prompts to complete the procedure.

Updating your Firmware (via Serial Port)
  1. Download the latest firmware here and unzip it.
  2. Program 'cereb-100u.HEX' onto your Cerebellum(see the Getting Started Guide for more info).
  3. Set the jumper for firmware override.
  4. Begin programming as normal (type 'fhqwhgads')
  5. The Power LED will turn off, but the Green LED will remain on. The prompt will say [1.00u]
  6. Type 'p' and then type enter.
  7. At the 'r' prompt, send over 'cereb-103d.HEX'. When complete, the Power LED will turn back on, and the Green LED will turn off.
  8. Move the firmware override jumper back to normal position.
  9. Enter the programming word and verify that the firmware version has changed. If it still reads the old version, or had any problems, power cycle the Cerebellum and try again.

Emergency Firmware Programming

Should you accidentally override the C6 pin(through bad PORTC calls, perhaps?) preventing communications, it is necessary to use the Emergency Firmware Jumper to reprogram your Cerebellum.

Currently, the Cerebellum Teacher 1.02 does not support the emergency jumper. Please use the manual programming method to recover your Cerebellum. Connect to Tera Term as described, and then insert the jumper and follow the prompts.
